'Accomplished' ... 'Magnificent' ... 'Style and panache' (professional soloist testimonials)
Established in 1861, Worcester Festival Choral Society has brought the ‘great choral works’ to the magnificent setting of Worcester Cathedral for 156 years.
With a membership of around 150 auditioned, amateur choral singers selected from across the region, and trained to the very highest level by accomplished conductor and musician Christopher Allsop, Worcester Festival Choral Society is one of the most accomplished choirs of its kind in the country.
Supported at every performance by the Meridian Sinfonia orchestra and internationally renowned soloists, we attract large audiences to our three annual concerts. We also hold a highly popular 'Come and Sing' event each year, giving non-members the chance to join a special, one-day workshop to learn one of the great choral works.
Underlining our choral quality, many of our singers take part in the world-famous, annual Three Choirs Festival, which celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2015, and takes place in Gloucester in 2019.
Even in this age of digital downloads and music on the web, a live musical performance with orchestra, soloists and choir cannot be beaten in terms of pure joy and symphonic satisfaction.
Worcester Festival Choral Society is fully independent and self-funding, so why not get involved with us now - whether as a singer, a concert-goer or a Patron - and help maintain this tradition for the next 150 years!
