Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Join The Choir?

Ideally, contact our Membership Secretary Sally Rees first by telephone 01684 564721 or using the Societies contact form so that she can give you the relevant information.
Alternatively, simply turn up on a Monday between 7pm and 7.30p.m. at Worcester Cathedral (enter the Cloisters through the gate in College Green) and ask for Sally Rees.  The rehearsal season runs from the start of September through to the end of March, depending on the Choir's schedule.  The subscription for the 2009/2010 season is £90 (£10 for full time stundents under the age of 25) – extremely good value for three concerts and almost 40 rehearsals, all conducted by Adrian Lucas our prestigious conductor.

Will I have to have an Audition?

A short audition will be arranged for you during the first term to determine  vocal quality, range and sight reading ability. All members of the Choir then audition every 3 years after joining to ensure that their musical ability is retained.

How can I buy Tickets for Concerts?

For most Choir concerts, there are five ways to buy tickets: through members of the Choir, in person, by telephone or by post from the Worcester Live Box Office, Huntingdon Hall, CrownGate Worcester, WR1 3LD. Tel: 01905 611427 or by email using our printed form (opens in a new window).

Supporting the Choir and Great Choral Music

The Worcester Festival Choral Society is a charitable organisation (Reg No: 506826) and is fully self-supporting.  All Choir and Committee members time is given freely. Our main sources of revenue are derived from ticket sales, members subscriptions and partnerships with individuals, Trusts and businesses who share our vision and whose support we gratefully acknowledge.

We run a Benefactors and Patrons Scheme that provides support to the Society, into which we would be delighted to welcome you.  Please click here for further details.
