Welcome to Worcester Festival Choral Society!
WFCS is a thriving choral society of singers mad about music and passionate to perform! Established in 1861, WFCS last year celebrated 150 years of singing great choral works in the magnificent surround of Worcester Cathedral. With a membership of almost 170 singers, drawn from all round the county, WFCS is one of the largest choral societies in the county and we attract large audiences to our concerts. Even in this age of digital downloads and music on the web, a live musical performance with orchestra, soloists and choir cannot be beaten in terms of pure joy and symphonic satisfaction. So why not get involved now with WFCS whether as a singer, concert-goer or Patron and help maintain this tradition for the next 150 years!
This season sees the arrival of our new Director of Music, Dr Peter Nardone. Peter is the new Organist and Director of Music at Worcester Cathedral and comes to us with an outstanding reputation as a choral trainer having served as Director of Music at Chelmsford Cathedral for the last twelve years. As a professional singer himself, Peter has toured in over 25 countries and been involved in over fifty recording projects including with the Tallis Scholars and the Monteverdi Choir. We welcome Peter to WFCS and very much look forward to an exciting first season under his musical direction.
Peter Nardone writes...."Being the conductor of Worcester Festival Choral Society has got to be one of the best perks of the job of Cathedral Organist here. Adrian Lucas has clearly achieved great success in his time and I eagerly rise to the challenge of carrying on the good work that he has built over the past fifteen years".
